The scientific paper entitled Development of a Questionnaire for the Perception of Escalating Moves in Violent Scenarios: A Pilot Study has been published, which focuses on the development and initial psychometric evaluation of a new research tool for investigating the perception of escalating actions in violent scenarios.
The study is directly linked to the research objectives of the Vio-Det project, as it contributes to the theoretical and methodological approach to predicting violent behaviors through the systematic investigation of the cognitive and perceptual mechanisms related to the recognition of indications of escalation of violence. For this purpose, a new questionnaire was developed, following internationally accepted psychometric tool design procedures, which included the formulation of a theoretical framework, the creation of questions, content validity verification by experts and pilot application on a sample of participants.
The final version of the tool includes 13 assessment questions and showed satisfactory internal consistency (McDonald’s ω = 0.82), indicating that it can be a reliable means of measuring the perception of escalating actions in violent scenarios. The results of the study document the possibility of developing specialized assessment tools that can support future research in the field of violence, aggression, risk assessment and prediction of violent behaviors.
The publication constitutes an important scientific outcome of the project, as it enhances the international dissemination of research findings, contributes to the production of new knowledge in the field of predicting violent behavior and creates the basis for further development and utilization of research tools in the context of the next phases of the project.
