The scientific paper entitled The Development of Architectural Approaches for Creating Interactive Scenarios for VR and AR Use has been published, which presents the design and architectural development of the VIODET platform for creating interactive training scenarios in Virtual (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) environments.
The paper describes two distinct but complementary architectural approaches to developing educational scenarios. The first is based on the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies, leveraging Speech-to-Text, Large Language Models (LLMs) and Text-to-Speech services to create dynamic dialogues and adaptive scenario progression in real time. The second approach is based on predefined interactive multiple-choice scenarios, which are designed through a special scenario writing tool and ensure full control and predictability of educational outcomes.
The paper presents the client-server architecture of the platform, the interconnection of the individual subsystems, as well as the ability to develop and execute applications on multiple platforms (Meta Quest 3, mobile devices and computers). Particular emphasis is given to the integration of artificial intelligence technologies to create realistic interactions between the user and virtual characters, as well as to the development of mechanisms to control the flow of educational scenarios.
The publication contributes substantially to the objectives of the Vio-Det project, as it documents the technological infrastructure that supports the transformation of research findings into interactive educational environments. At the same time, it highlights the potential of utilizing VR/AR and Artificial Intelligence technologies for the development of innovative training applications for frontline professionals in the field of recognition, assessment and management of violent behavior incidents.
The work constitutes an important result of the project’s dissemination, enhancing the international scientific visibility of the technological and research innovations developed within the framework of Vio-Det and creating the foundations for future applications in the fields of education, health, safety and vocational training.
